Itinerary

  • After a lovely morning and having your breakfast (on your own), our staff will pick you up from your hotel with a warm greeting between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. to begin the journey.
  • Once ready, we will head to the town of Chongoyape, located 60 kilometers away—about 1 hour and 40 minutes by vehicle. From a nearby point, we’ll take a short walk to the entrance of the Chaparri Ecological Reserve, accompanied by our tour guide.
  • The Chaparri Ecological Reserve covers 34,412 hectares between the regions of Lambayeque and Cajamarca. It was established in 2001 to protect the biodiversity of dry and cloud forests. It is the best place in Peru to observe the spectacled bear and the white-winged guan, both emblematic and unique species of the country.
  • Inside the reserve, we will explore the Spectacled Bear Trail, the Huachuma Trail, and the White-Winged Guan Route, where you can see a wide variety of animal species. Take this opportunity to photograph both the scenery and the wildlife.
  • We’ll then visit the serpentarium, which houses endemic species not found anywhere else in the world. Next, we will visit the animal rescue center, where some spectacled bears are cared for by local park rangers.
  • After this adventure, we will return to Chongoyape for a lunch stop (not included). Here you can enjoy delicious dishes made with local ingredients—an entirely new experience for your taste buds
  • Feeling more relaxed after a good meal, we’ll begin the return journey to the city of Chiclayo, which will take about 1 hour and 40 minutes. We’ll arrive around 6:00 p.m., and our staff will warmly bid you farewell, dropping you off at your hotel and ending our tour.
