Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Town)

  • We begin our Machu Picchu by Car tour with pick-up from your hotel (near Cusco’s historic center) between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Our team will escort you to our vehicle to start the journey to the Hydroelectric station.
  • One of our first stops will be Ollantaytambo, where you’ll have a few minutes to explore and be amazed by this charming town that blends Inca and colonial heritage.
  • We’ll continue the drive to Abra Málaga, the highest point of the trip at 4,200 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the Cusco jungle. We’ll stop here for a short break and to take some photos.
  • Afterward, we’ll head to the town of Santa Teresa for a brief rest, stretch our legs, and then continue on to the Hydroelectric station.
  • Upon arrival at the Hydroelectric station, a delicious lunch will be waiting for us. Once reenergized, we’ll begin a scenic two-hour walk to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). There’s also the option to take the train—ask our travel agents for more details (ticket not included).
  • After the hike, our transfer will be waiting for you in Aguas Calientes to take you to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.
  • Once you’re settled in, our tour guide will meet with you—either before or after dinner—to provide important information and tips for your visit to Machu Picchu, so you can make the most of your experience.

Day 2: Machu Picchu - Return

  • Early in the morning, around 6 a.m., we’ll enjoy breakfast to fuel up for our visit to Machu Picchu. Then, we’ll board a tourist bus that will take us to the entrance gate of this awe-inspiring site (approximately a 30-minute ride).
  • Once we arrive at Machu Picchu, a professional guide will accompany us, sharing fascinating stories and interesting facts about the site. You’ll also have some free time to take photos and explore part of the citadel on your own.
  • You'll have about two and a half hours to discover Machu Picchu—and of course, you can’t miss the iconic photo every traveler needs to take. Don’t forget! At the agreed time, we’ll meet to begin our return to the Hydroelectric station.
  • At the Hydroelectric station, our tourist transport will be waiting to take you back to the city of Cusco (approximately a 6-hour journey). Finally, we’ll drop you off at your hotel, bringing our Machu Picchu by Car tour to a close with a warm farewell from our team.
