What will you do

Looking for a different kind of day trip from Lima that combines coastal scenery, adventure, and local traditions? This full-day tour covers some of the most visited destinations in the "Southern Coast" of Peru, with activities ranging from boat rides on the sea to dune walks and local product tastings. Along the way, you'll visit Paracas, Huacachina, Ica, and Chincha—each with its own charm and highlights to enjoy from beginning to end.

Itinerary

  • The tour starts with hotel pickup in Lima at 5:45 a.m. You'll travel 259 kilometers along the Pan-American Highway South (approximately 4 hours) to the seaside town of Paracas in the Ica region.
  • In Paracas, you'll board a speedboat at El Chaco pier toward the Ballestas Islands. After 30 minutes on the water, you'll see abundant marine life such as sea lions, Humboldt penguins, cormorants, flamingos, and more.
  • The boat ride lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes. You'll also see the famous Candelabro geoglyph, a massive sand carving possibly linked to the Nazca culture.
  • Back at the port, you'll have free time to enjoy lunch (not included) and the coastal scenery.
  • Then, we’ll head to Ica (1-hour drive) to visit the Huacachina oasis, just 5 kilometers from the city center. Here, you’ll see the lagoon surrounded by dunes and optionally try sandboarding or ride buggies.
  • Next, we’ll visit a local chocolate shop to taste typical treats like chocotejas, alfajores, jams, and handmade cookies.
  • We’ll continue to the Nietto distillery to learn about the pisco-making process, then visit the Tres Esquinas vineyard to learn about wine production—tasting included.
  • We’ll finish with a stop in Chincha to enjoy more wine and pisco tastings and attend a traditional folk dance workshop featuring the Peruvian cajón. Around 6:00 p.m., we’ll start the return trip to Lima, arriving at your hotel around 10:45 p.m.
