What will you do

Making this journey is truly an achievement for some, as the road can be tiring and difficult for some. However, when everyone sees the Humantay Lagoon in the distance, they begin to forget about it and hurry up to contemplate its turquoise waters. Everything will start early and with a two-hour trip to Mollepata where we will have breakfast on the way out and lunch on the way back. We will have transportation to Soraypampa from where the path begins on foot. Once in the lagoon, we will be able to rest, take pictures and even make a "payment to the land" which is an Andean ritual to thank the main deities of the Andean world. This lagoon due to the presence of the Salkantay is considered as such. The return to Cusco will be after the buffet lunch in Mollepata.


Itinerary

  • Being one of our clients, we will go through the door of your hotel at the agreed time.
  • The pick up of tourists from their hotel is coordinated in advance so that the traveler waits ready. The estimated time is from 4:00 to 4:20 in the morning.
  • Once we have all the travelers. The trip begins in the direction of Mollepata.
  • After two hours and 30 minutes of travel we will arrive at this first destination where we can have breakfast. The service will be buffet.
  • After breakfast, we will follow the route until we reach Soraypampa where we prepare our belongings and start the walk.
  • The walk is two hours on average. A lot depends on the physical condition of each one.
  • Remember to do the tour without haste and resting. The important thing is that you can enjoy this experience, follow your rhythm.
  • Once in the Humantay Lagoon, it is possible to rest, contemplate the landscape and take pictures.
  • You may need some snacks or nuts to recover energy.
  • Before starting the return. The guide will perform an Andean ritual of gratitude to Mother Earth.
  • The way back will be easier. This path will be downhill.
  • At the Soraypampa camp you will not wait for our minivan.

Important information

What to bring

  • To avoid any problems, you always have to have your identity document at hand.
  • The cold can be a problem, make sure you bring a jacket.
  • It is important to wear sunscreen and a cap or hat.
  • Comfortable but warm clothing is the best option.
  • Comfortable and resistant footwear.
  • If you are going to carry a backpack, make sure that you only carry what is necessary and that it is not too heavy.
  • A waterproof poncho.
  • Snacks and drinks (optional).

Before travelling

  • Remember that the route to the lagoon is on foot. But you can rent a horse and muleteer to help you get there.
  • In case you want this option you will have to bring extra money. The rental price is approximately 90 soles.
  • The weather is cold. Keep this in mind when planning your clothing and accessories at the time of travel.
