One of the best experiences that can be done in Cusco are the hiking trails known as the Inca Trail. These ancient mule tracks, used by the first settlers of Tawantinsuyo, can still be used today. Now, these routes are connected to Machu Picchu. The Short Inca Trail or only 2 days is one of the best alternatives for a whole family to reach the wonder of the world after taking a walking tour of these 12-kilometer trails. The landscapes and places that are visited are incomparable and can only compete with Machu Picchu itself.
The adventure will begin with the departure from Cusco from minutes before 5:00 in the morning. Depending on the case and availability, we will arrive at one of the train stations. From one of the stations we will continue the trip to Chachabamba, which is located at kilometer 104. At this point we will descend and start the walk. On the way, our first destination will be the Inca site of Chachabamba, after more than 3 hours of walking we will reach Wiñayhuayna. We will have lunch and continue until we reach Inti Punku and see Machu Picchu from its main access. The first day we will only get to visit the upper platforms. The next day the visit to Machu Picchu is made from 6:00 in the morning. After the tour of the Inca citadel, we return to Cusco.
During the Short Inca Trail of only 2 days, a trek is made from Chachabamba to Machu Picchu. The average distance is 12 kilometers to complete the entire route. Machu Picchu is reached through the Inti Punku and then through the upper platforms that offer incredible views.
