To visit the Rainbow Mountains in Palcoyo, it will be necessary to make a trip from the early hours of the day. For this reason, the transport will pass by your hotel between 5:00 and 5:30 in the morning. After that and once the entire travel group is inside the transport, we will begin to make the trip towards the South of Cusco. Travel time will be almost 2 hours to Cusipata where we can all have breakfast. After that, it is time to continue the trip through Pitumarca until we reach the community of Palcoyo from where we will have to start the walk. The walk will be less than 45 minutes. Throughout the journey or from the moment we get off the minivan, we will see incredible landscapes. Getting to Palcoyo is easier than visiting Vinicunca, which requires more walking time. In addition, Palcoyo, allows a tour through stone forests that allow spectacular photographs.
Palcoyo is one of the alternatives for those who wish to have a different experience than visiting Vinicunca or the most popular Rainbow Mountain. This is why Palcoyo has been receiving more visitors little by little. Although the route and the activities are similar, the landscapes and the stretch of walk are different. In this sense, it is worth mentioning that the tour will begin with the pick-up from the hotels in Cusco, then the trip is made to Cusipata where you have breakfast and again the trip continues to the community of Palcoyo. From this place, we will start the walk until we reach the highest point of the mountainous areas that will allow us to appreciate the two mountains of colors in all their splendor. Once we arrive at this destination, we will have enough time to take pictures, rest and contemplate the entire landscape. After that, we will start the return route. Lunch will be in Cusipata and after a short rest, we return to the minivan to start the trip to Cusco.
As it is an activity in the open field and with a high probability of rain during the months of January, February. Many recommend doing this tour during the months furthest away from these months, which can be from June to August, where the rains are almost always scarce.
