What will you do

All our services include pick up from your hotel to start the Salkantay Trek hiking adventure. For 5 days we will be attentive to any questions you may have. At the same time we will take care of logistics and food to facilitate your trip. Everything will start with the trip from Cusco to Markokasa, from where the whole group can have breakfast and then start the tour on foot. During this first day you can visit the Humantay Lagoon and then rest in Soraypamapa. From this place we start with an ascent route passing through the Abra Salkantay. On the third and fourth day the route is easier and we will enter the Cusco jungle until we reach Machu Picchu Pueblo. On the fifth day, the tour of Machu Picchu is carried out and the train trip returns to Ollantaytambo and then to Cusco. Where we will take care of taking you to your hotel.


Itinerary

Day 1

  • The itinerary begins with the pick up from the door of the hotels. This service is for everyone as long as they are in an area that allows it to be done.
  • The pick up time will be from minutes before 5:00 am.
  • We will leave by bus until arriving at Mollepata at approximately 9:00 in the morning where we will be able to enjoy a buffet breakfast.
  • After that we return to our transportation and head to Markokasa, where we will start the walk, we will also meet the support group cooks and porters) that will accompany us.
  • Our walk will be on an ascending path until reaching 3500 meters above sea level.
  • From there we will be able to appreciate part of the snowy Salkantay and the Humantay Lagoon.
  • The destination where we can have dinner and spend the night will be at the Soraypampa camp.

Day 2

  • At dawn on the second day, we will be able to have a beautiful view of our entire journey, the lagoon and the snow-capped Salkantay.
  • This day an arduous walk is expected, since it will be steeper than the day before.
  • We will have to enjoy and make the most of the breakfast prepared by our cooks.
  • During the first half of the day, our destination will be the Abra Salkantay. We will be at an altitude of 4650 masl.
  • Close to that place and the snowy Salkantay in sight, we can make a payment to the land requesting permission and blessings from the Apu Salkantay.
  • Later in our tour we will be able to have lunch.
  • In the afternoon it is time to descend, here we will see some variations of the landscape.
  • We will enter the masses of mists that are formed by the thaw and the heat caused by the jungle.
  • The final stretch of the day will be downhill, we will reach Chawllay, we will be very close to the Salkantay River.
  • Our destination, finally, will be in Collpampa, where we can have dinner and spend the night. We will be at 2,900 meters above sea level.

Day 3

  • This day we will wake up early and have breakfast thanks to our expert chefs on hiking trails.
  • This day's walk will not be so hard, the path is flat with slight ascents and descents.
  • The landscapes that will accompany us along the way are comprised of coffee, fruit trees and more variety of plants.
  • You can also see a variety of birds and some butterflies.
  • The first section will end at lunchtime right in the well-known sector of Lucmabamba and La Playa.
  • During the afternoon it is possible to visit the thermal baths of Cocalmayo.
  • Our camp will be in Santa Teresa. In this district we can buy coffee, in its different varieties, and spend the night.

Day 4

  • This day we will say goodbye to the porters and the kitchen team. Of course after our breakfast.
  • From Santa Teresa, we will leave towards Llaqtapata. We will follow the road to the Hydroelectric station.
  • In Hidroeléctrica, we can have lunch in a local restaurant.
  • After the well-deserved lunch, it is time to continue along the paths that border the train lines to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo.
  • This walk is easy and it is quite probable that we will find many walkers who are on their way to our destination.
  • During this section, we will be able to walk to the Mandor waterfalls.
  • Before nightfall, we will be arriving at Machu Picchu Pueblo. In this place we can have dinner.
  • Another option is to visit the thermal baths (not included in the tour).
  • We will spend the night in a hotel that we have already booked.

Day 5

  • Once in Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo, getting to the wonder of the world is quite simple.
  • We will leave early, we will start activities at 05:30 in the morning.
  • Before 6:00 in the morning we will leave in the ecological buses heading to Machu Picchu.
  • The entrance will be with the guide and we will visit the main destinations such as the temples and buildings that border the Central Plaza.
  • The tour lasts from 2 to 3 hours. Thanks to the guide we will know the history, how it was built and even unpublished data of this place.
  • After the visit and tour, it is possible to descend to Aguas Calientes or Machu Picchu Pueblo in the ecological buses.
  • At the indicated time we must wait for our train at the station. Before that, we can go shopping or stroll through this small district.
  • After the train trip to Ollantaytambo, we start the bus trip to Cusco.
  • Once in Cusco one of our agents will be in charge of transporting you to his hotel.
