Very close to Arequipa it is possible to find a natural and at the same time cultural destination. Also near this quarry, we will visit the Culebrillas ravine, where you can see hieroglyphics from thousands of years ago. What will you do

To have a tour in a more temperate climate, we will start the trip at 8:00 in the morning. Therefore, pick-up from hotels will take place between 20 to 30 minutes before the indicated time. All those who made the reservation to do the Sillar Route must wait in the lobby of their hotels with their belongings ready to start the day's adventure.

Once we reach the Ruta del Sillar for approximately 40 minutes of travel, we will begin the tour of the various sculptures and work workshops of these quarries. During this tour we will learn about all the activities linked to ashlar that was raw material to build the walls of the main buildings of the Historical Center of the White City.

After the entire tour and explanation, we will take a short walk to enter the Las Culebrillas ravine, where we will learn more about the history of Arequipa. Finally we will begin the return trip, we will arrive at the door of our hotels after returning to the Historic Center of Arequipa.


Itinerary

  • We will pass by the hotels from 7:30 in the morning.
  • Pickup time will not exceed 30 minutes.
  • Once we have the entire group, the trip will begin towards the Cerro Colorado district.
  • From there we will continue until taking the detour towards the Ruta del Sillar.
  • On the Ruta del Sillar we will see some of the most representative sculptures in the distance.
  • The route taken is through the quarries. For this reason it is possible to find artisans working or collecting ashlar.
  • It is possible to find different sculptures and of different sizes. Don't forget to bring a camera.
  • After visiting the main sculptures and learning more about this valuable raw material, it will be time to take a short walk.
  • The walk will be towards the Culebrillas ravine. There we will see some petroglyphs.
  • After this brief tour and the relevant explanation from our guide. We will return to our vehicle.
  • The return will be the same way we arrived.
  • The tour will end in the city center or at a nearby restaurant. The client will be able to choose.
