We will start by making the trip to the Uros Islands and we will learn about its history thanks to a local resident. After that, we return to our boat to make the trip to Amantani, another island in the lake. There we will meet local families who will also give us a space to spend the night. Also, we can try the exquisite stews of the area. The next day, we will leave after breakfast towards Taquile Island. There, we will also learn more about the life of this community that is dedicated to making truly beautiful fabrics. Before returning to Puno, we will have an exquisite lunch in Taquile.

What will you do

To complete this tour with complete satisfaction, we will have to do many activities. Therefore, all travelers are asked to wait ready in the lobby of their hotel. We will pass at the indicated time and once we are all on board, we will have a short trip to the port of Puno. From this place our 2-day adventure will begin. For 2 days we will be inside Lake Titicaca, sailing its waters, trying the natural products that this lake offers. In addition, we will learn more about the cultures that managed to transmit their knowledge and traditions from more than 500 years ago to the present day.

The first day we will sail towards the Uros Islands, from there, we will learn more about the history of this community or ethnic group that prefers to make their homes in the immensity of the lake using the reeds. After this visit, it will be time to sail to the island of Amantani. There, we will have an excellent lunch waiting for us. We will also learn more about the population and we will be able to walk around the island. Thus, when night comes we will have our rooms to spend the night, of course, after dinner and why not dance to the music of local artists.

The next day they will offer us a delicious breakfast, we will collect our things and continue sailing the waters of Titicaca. This time, our destination will be the island of Taquile. Another place that still houses part of its tradition in its customs. There we will be received and in the same way we will learn part of its history and legacy. After lunch and getting to know the island more, it will be time to make the return trip. Once we arrive at the port, we will have our transportation ready to take us to our hotels.


Itinerary

Day 1

  • We will start minutes before 8:00 am with the pick-up.
  • Pick up will be from the hotel door. Remember that for this service the hotels must be in the central area of Puno.
  • If you are not in said area, a pick-up location will be coordinated.
  • Once the group is on board the transport, we leave towards the Port of Puno.
  • There, we will board our motorized boat and begin the trip.
  • Our first destination will be the Uros Islands.
  • In the Uros Islands we will learn more about the history of this community that has lived there for several generations.
  • We will also learn about the importance of the reed, the plant that allows the creation of these floating islands.
  • Optionally we can sail on reed-based boats.
  • After that it is time to return to the boat, this time, we will make a long trip to Amantani.
  • Travel time to Amantani is 2 hours and 45 minutes.
  • During this trip, we will see beautiful landscapes of the lake. Also part of the fauna.
  • It is also possible to observe part of the daily fishing activity of some of the people who live on the lake.
  • Once in Amantani, we will have a short walk. Approximately 30 minutes.
  • During our passage, we will see part of this island. The destination of our walk will be the center of the town.
  • There, a delicious lunch will be waiting for us. A local family will open the doors of their home to us.
  • We will be able to walk and learn more about the customs of the entire community that lives in Amantani.
  • At nightfall we can have dinner. Likewise, if possible we can enjoy local music and have a fun time.
  • We will spend the night in Amantani.

Day 2

  • Before leaving Amantani, we will have a delicious local breakfast.
  • After saying goodbye, we will make the trip to Taquile.
  • Likewise in Taquile, we will get to know more about the local people. This island was also inhabited even before the conquest.
  • Many traditions are maintained in the 3 islands that we will visit. For example, in Taquile spectacular weavings continue to be made.
  • We will visit the famous and traditional stone arches of Taquile.
  • Before making our return trip, we will have lunch.
  • Lunch is not included, but we will take you to a restaurant with beautiful views.
  • We can also have a free afternoon to walk around and take photographs of the place.
  • Our transportation will be waiting for us at the port of Puno.
  • We will take a short trip to the door of our hotels.

What to bring

  • You must carry an identification document or passport.

  • If you use special medications or only prescription medications, it is recommended to bring them from the beginning of the tour.

Before travelling

  • It is advisable to have a list before getting your belongings ready. This way, you don't forget anything.

  • Have a charger and warm clothing in your backpack.
  • Wait at the indicated pick-up time.

Is the hike in Amantani complicated?

It will probably be tiring for people who are not fully acclimatized. However, the hike is not difficult, it has short ascending sections. In reality, the walk will not be a difficulty to do this tour. Especially if you are already acclimatized.
