The visit to Waqrapukara is a one day tour for those who wish to have a totally different experience from the other tours in the south of Cusco. This tour leads us to mountains that are not so high but with beautiful and incredible landscapes. Everything will start as always with the pick up of the passengers from the door of their hotel between 04:30 to 05:30 in the morning. The first leg of the trip will be to the Cusipata district where we can all have breakfast. Then we will return to our transport where we will continue with the trip until we reach the community of Santa Lucia. Here we can all get our belongings ready to start the walk to Waqrapukara. In Waqrapukara, we will see some archaeological remains of what was probably one of the Inca citadels and temples of great importance. Although there are not many traces left, today, we will find a beautiful landscape and the mysticism that this horn-shaped mountain contains, along with its stairways and archaeological remains. We will have everything necessary to make this trip possible, such as transportation, food, and an expert guide on the tour. We comply with the itinerary and on average we will finish this tour in Cusco before 6:30 p.m.
The first activity that we will carry out will be to coordinate the pick up from your hotel. Once the time is agreed, you will have to wait in the lobby of your hotel. It is recommended to have your belongings in a small backpack to only have a day's activity. Next, we will start with the trip through the South Valley of Cusco. Travel time can be long, so tourists can rest during the first leg of the trip to Cusipata. In Cusipata we will descend in the parking lot of the restaurant where we will all be able to taste an exquisite breakfast. We continue with the trip until we reach the town of Santa Lucía. In this place, we will all begin to get ready to start the walk. The walking time is only one hour that can be extended for a few more minutes. Once we arrive at Waqrapukara, we will begin the tour of the archaeological site with the help of our guide. This tour can also last from 1 to 1 hour and 30 minutes. We will return to Santa Lucía where we can have lunch contemplating a large part of the landscape and then return to Cusco.
Waqrapukara, is one of the most enigmatic Inca constructions that can be found in Cusco. This construction is on a peculiar mountain in the shape of horns, although some associate it with the ears of the llamas. Until now, it has a mysticism due to the importance and possible functions that this place would have. In addition, it is narrated that bloody battles of an opposition group against the Inca dynasty took place between its plains.
